All new players must provide proof of age documentation (a copy of your child's birth certificate is preferred). If your child has registered with BYSA in previous seasons, proof age is not required. Please email a scanned copy of your child's birth certificate to registrar@bulverdesoccer.org or fax to (210) 693-1132. Proof of age is mandatory for all new players prior to being assigned to a team. Minimum age: 4 years of age by July 31, 2011 (born before July 31, 2007).
Choosing the Right Level of Play Online registration is available for Youth Recreational and Academy players only. Players for select (competitive) teams are registered through a different process. If your child is U11 or older and is interested in playing competitive soccer, there are some openings on Ranger teams for the spring. Please contact Scott Hollingshead for more information and to arrange a tryout.
The valid choices for online registration are:
- Div IV or D4 Recreational, which is for U5 through U10 age groups
- Div III or D3 Recreational, which is for U11 and up - recreational soccer only
- Academy - U9 and U10 (and some U8 players who are "playing up." This level of play provides professional training and a slightly more competitive environment - and is the ideal choice for players who are serious about soccer and want to prepare for competitive soccer at the U11 and older age groups.
Should you have any questions about completing the online registration, please send an email to registrar@bulverdesoccer.org and we will respond at our earliest opportunity.
BYSA Welcomes Kate McCollum-Mudge as Director of Academy Soccer
We are very excited to announce Kate McCollum-Mudge as the new Director of Academy for the Bulverde Rangers Soccer Club. Kate brings a lifetime of experience playing and/or coaching soccer to our program, along with a passion for training youth of all ages in the game she loves. She and her family are residents of the Bulverde/Spring Branch area and she has two kids currently playing soccer with BYSA. Her son Jack plays U8 Rec and she coached her daughter Sophie’s U10 Rec team this fall.
Kate has several years experience training Academy and Micro-Academy teams, including Bulverde from 2003 through 2005, the Lions in 2006 and the Classics Elite from 2007 through 2010. Additionally, for the past 11 years she has been Head Coach of the Reagan HS JV girls soccer team and the Asst Head Coach for their Varsity girls soccer team, both of which have enjoyed much success in the time she has been on staff.

Kate truly enjoys coaching younger players because of their enthusiasm for the game and their willingness to learn. She feels that kids at this age have so much potential and she takes great pride in teaching them the proper skills and techniques. While she wants the kids to have fun playing and learning the game, she runs a tight program and expects the players to pay attention and put forth effort in practice and games. She believes that the Academy program should offer a balanced mix of technical skills training for the kids to improve individually as well as tactical team skills and strategy for the kids to work together as a group.
Kate is looking forward to a great spring season and wants to meet all the Academy players and parents ASAP to introduce herself and get to know you. We have scheduled a training session and meet-and-greet on Sunday, December 11th, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Jumbo Evans. We hope that you will make the effort to have your child attend this session. We are also working on some future dates to conduct additional off-season sessions to give the kids an opportunity to keep touching the ball between now and when formal Academy training begins for the spring season.
I realize that anytime there is a change in trainers that there can be mixed feelings among the parents and players. I have known Kate for several years and am confident that she will do a great job with our Academy kids. I want to thank you all for your participation in the BYSA Academy program and we look forward to having you back this spring.
2011 Fall Soccer Season - Thank you!
We hope that everyone enjoyed yet another fun, family-friendly fall soccer season at BYSA. We wish to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all our volunteers, coaches, parents who make the youth soccer experience with Bulverde Youth Soccer Association at Jumbo Evans such a positive one for the kiddos and the community.
