Kate truly enjoys coaching younger players because of their enthusiasm for the game and their willingness to learn. She feels that kids at this age have so much potential and she takes great pride in teaching them the proper skills and techniques. While she wants the kids to have fun playing and learning the game, she runs a tight program and expects the players to pay attention and put forth effort in practice and games. She believes that the Academy program should offer a balanced mix of technical skills training for the kids to improve individually as well as tactical team skills and strategy for the kids to work together as a group.
Kate is looking forward to a great spring season and wants to meet all the Academy players and parents ASAP to introduce herself and get to know you. We have scheduled a training session and meet-and-greet on Sunday, December 11th, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Jumbo Evans. We hope that you will make the effort to have your child attend this session. We are also working on some future dates to conduct additional off-season sessions to give the kids an opportunity to keep touching the ball between now and when formal Academy training begins for the spring season.
I realize that anytime there is a change in trainers that there can be mixed feelings among the parents and players. I have known Kate for several years and am confident that she will do a great job with our Academy kids. I want to thank you all for your participation in the BYSA Academy program and we look forward to having you back this spring.
BYSA Academy Soccer Program
Academy, also known as “developmental soccer,” offers advanced training and play opportunities geared towards players and parents who are dedicated to soccer and have a passion for the game. The program is a great opportunity for the player interested in refining their individual and team skills and techniques under the instruction of professional trainers while preparing for future development in select soccer with the Bulverde Rangers when players reach the U11 age group.
The Academy program is open to U9 and U10 girls and boys who have the commitment and interest in continuing to improve and develop as a player. Also, advanced U8 players will be allowed to play up with a U9 team. Boys and girls on separate squads. There are no tryouts and 50% play per half is strictly enforced.
Players will train twice per week with their professional trainer and team manager. The games are played 6v6 including a goalkeeper and will be against other Academy teams throughout the San Antonio area.
The cost for each player to participate in the Developmental Program is $299.00 per season, which includes the player’s premium uniform package and training fees.
BYSA now has access to some of the very best professional trainers for Academy and Select soccer. We also offer the best value of any club in San Antonio as we are the only Academy program that includes full-time training and a premium uniform package for under $300 a season.
